Semi-permanent makeup (SPMU) can be removed using laser treatment.
Lets start by explaining how the treatment works. The laser tattoo removal works by sending highly concentrated beams of light into the dermis to break down the ink particles. After the body's lymphatic system removes the broken-down ink particles as part of the natural regeneration process. On average, tattooed eyebrows can take between 3-6 sessions to be fully removed using laser removal treatments. The treatment can also be used to just remove a portion of your brows or other SPMU, such as an overline or overarch, to give you a result that is more natural and even in appearance.
The most frequent question I get about laser removal treatment is : "Does it hurt?". I always say that it is more painful than the pigment application process, however it is a very quick treatment! Unfortunately, there is no getting around it, the treatment is uncomfortable. When the laser is applied, it feels like a stiff elastic bands snapping on your skin. Afterwards, your skin will feel warm, and in some cases , swollen for a couple of hours after the treatment.
How to prepare yourself before the laser makeup removal treatment? Definitely avoid the sun for at least 2 weeks before treatment. if you do have to be outdoors, please use SPF50 on the area to be treated. Avoid waxing and exfoliating and discontinue any topical retinol or glycolic acid treatments at least 2 weeks before. Keep the area clean and dry on the day of your treatment. Be sure to drink lots of water, eat well and avoid alcohol.
In terms of the aftercare I always advice to keep the area clean. Do not pick or scratch the treated area. If it feels itchy or warm, use an ice pack to soothe the skin. Keep the area cool - avoid hot showers, hot pools and steam rooms. Do not expose the treated area to direct, intense sunlight. Avoid intensive, sweaty exercise and rough sports for 3 days post treatment. A healthy immune system will help to accelerate removal. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Regular, circulation boosting exercise will be beneficial too.
