Recently I had the privilege of attending a powerful seminar with the incredible Kay Pennington who is the founder of @resilience_and_power company.
I am still processing the whole coaching session as it reminded me of something we often forget: Everyone of us holds a superpower inside we just need to find it. This is our resilience, our power. What we need to remember is that positive emotions such as joy, gratitude and hope, and negative emotions such as resentment, anger and fear influence resilience. Indeed, positive emotions can broaden our focus, attention and behaviour, helping us become more creative as we tackle our problems. Therefore what it means is that we need to do everything in our strength to stay positive and happy. To achieve that, simple exercise may help, such as take a short walk, connect with nature, focus on your breath, notice the feeling of the breeze on your skin, go for your favourite coffee and a piece of cake.
What we have to remember is to look after yourself, to have strength to keep going, to stay strong. Life is throwing at us things we don't want, situations we are afraid of, people who hurt us, but no matter what we have to keep going. One of great things Kay said was that reflecting on our past experiences with adversity can help us appreciate the resilience skills we already posses. However, due to a stress or tiredness we don't pay attention to them. To be more aware and connected with yourself a great activity to do is writing a journal as it can promote self-reflection. It doesn't have to be a full page day to day essay, but more a note down about meaningful daily events, reflections on them to enhance your self-knowledge. An example can be: 'Write 5 things that made me feel peaceful today', or 'Write 5 ways my life is awesome', or 'My family admire me for my...' Try to focus on positive self-reflection as you can read them later in time and get that energy back, these feelings and those emotions.
The whole session was a gamechanger, and I couldn't be more grateful to have a chance to attend it. What I have mentioned above is the things what really got to me and things we have to remember and to practice them to stay happy in our life.
Thanks,
Karolina x
