As we are in a summer time and many of us are planning, going for a holiday its important to know how to prepare skin for this season. Many of my clients are not doing anything extra, they just remember to pack the SPF cream and use it while abroad. However, the SPF cream, ideally SPF30, should be used all year round! And that is a fact :)
So how can we prepare skin for summer holiday? A very simple addition to your skin routine will be exfoliating twice a week leading up to your holiday. That way you will remove dead and dry cells, and be left with supple skin that`s ready to soak up hydration, antioxidants and vitamins before being exposed to the sun.
Exfoliating regularly will help you remove dead skin cells that build up and cause irritation and blemishes, so it is a great habit to develop.
Another step for a pre-holiday skincare routine would be to start using a tan accelerator. It is a very simple step, as all you need to do is massage a small amount of a tan accelerator lotion into your skin every day for up to two weeks before you go on holiday for intensive moisturisation.
A big struggle, to many of my clients, is dehydration of skin. The combination of travelling, missing out on sleep, and exposing yourself to new environments have a massive impact on your skin which can get dehydrated very quickly. One way to minimise this, is to pay extra attention to your skin`s hydration in the days and weeks leading up to your holiday. I would recommend to add an intensive moisturiser into your regime, with SPF, to keep your skin feeling hydrated and silky soft.
A holiday time is a time you deserve, to recharge your batteries, to escape from daily duties, to relax and enjoy yourself, don`t forget to be extra gentle with your skin too.
Have a fab holiday!
